Amazon Developing Drone That Understands Hands Signals & Human Voice

Drones might one day be able to "see" us waving.

Commercial drones have increasingly become a part of our lives. The Federal Aviation Administration knows it, and so does Amazon.

The tech giant was just issued a patent this week for a delivery drone that is able to interpret vocal and gestural commands from humans. 

According to the patent, the drone would be outfitted with a variety of light and auditory sensors and cameras to detect any human interaction. The drone might also be outfitted with speakers and a laser projector.

This won't be the first drone with these kind of capabilities, reports Engadget. DJI's spark drone responds to arm movements, while Samsung recently received a patent for a drone that can track human faces and hands.

As it's only a patent, there's no guarantee that Amazon will bring this product to market. You can see how Amazon envisions the human-drone interaction in the patent image below:
