Letter: Technology can create other problems

A reader writes that technology can help solve problems and create others.

Regarding "Moran pushes 'smart' license": While a lot of people might say, "Whoa, Big Brother!," I think that takes it a bit too far.

It seems that many people fall victim to the notion that technology can cure any problem. They do not dwell on what problems it might create. Without strong encryption, which has been neglected and refused by commerce in general, this idea will not get off the ground. You cannot have an radio frequency identification chip sending out signals saying, "Hi, I'm here! Hack me!" or have a credit card that contains medical, financial, personal data without it being completely unhackable.
