Social Security wants new outreach channels

The communications solutions would include chat, video messaging, secure screen sharing and ways for users to send attachments.

WHAT: The Social Security Administration is looking to modernize its interaction with the public.

WHY: SSA can authenticate user accounts online via its mySocialSecurity website. So far, more than 14 million users have registered. Now SSA wants to develop new pathways to engage those users, who might have questions about benefits, or need to share records with agency staff. In a recent request for information, SSA is seeking secure communications solutions, including chat, video messaging, secure screen sharing and ways for users to send attachments. The communications package should integrate with a case management system that gives SSA customer care staff access to user records.
