The Army will try out crowd-sourced security.

Following in the footsteps of the Defense Department’s Hack the Pentagon effort, the Army will host its own bug bounty program.

Secretary of the Army Eric Fanning announced Friday the service will kick off Hack the Army, an invitation-only program to test recruitment sites and personnel databases, according to a Wired report.

HackerOne, which was recently awarded a DOD contract for such competitions, will facilitate the Army’s program. The security firm previously worked with the Defense Digital Services on Hack the Pentagon, a pilot that unearthed 138 unknown vulnerabilities in 24 days this spring.

The HackerOne blog says details will be posted for the Army’s competition in the following weeks.
