Interested candidates have until later this month to apply.

The Commerce Department’s national economic statistics provider is on the search for a new chief information officer.

Applications for this executive role within the Bureau of Economic Analysis are due by April 26, according to a recent job announcement.

“The posting includes information about what we are looking for in a candidate, including the Executive Core Qualifications and the Professional and Technical Qualifications, along with the job responsibilities and our equal employment opportunity policy,” a BEA public affairs specialist told Nextgov Tuesday. “All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.”

Among other responsibilities listed in the post, BEA officials wrote that the individual chosen would act as the principal adviser on, and work to improve, the bureau’s operations around information resources and systems management. The CIO would be expected to shape a strategic information technology-centered planning process and “promote innovative uses of technology” across the organization.

The bureau’s website currently lists Amanda Lyndaker as its acting CIO. She previously served as deputy CIO and has led IT modernization initiatives within the agency for multiple years. BEA’s public affairs specialist did not confirm how Lyndaker’s role will change, or how she’ll work with the BEA’s new CIO—once that person is hired.

“We don’t have anything beyond the vacancy announcement to add at this point,” the official said.
