Director of Financial Information Management
Army Department

The work: Shepherding the most significant financial management transformation in the Army’s history through the implementation of a departmentwide enterprise resource planning system.

The impact: The General Fund Enterprise Business System subsumes 107 older systems, will manage nearly $140 billion when fully deployed this year and will meet the goal of producing auditable financial statements by 2017.

The nuts and bolts: To achieve buy-in and support, Jones briefed nearly every senior Army officer about the project and its capabilities. By successfully promoting new, comprehensive business processes across domains, she has been responsible for considerable financial savings. Her leadership has also led to standardized business processes, enhanced performance and improved internal controls.
