Federal 100: Brook Colangelo

Brook Colangelo
CIO
Executive Office of the President

When Brook Colangelo stepped into the CIO position, he launched a program to modernize the technology infrastructure, improve its reliability and offer better support for remote workers.

He went about his job with an eye toward ensuring that White House staff members had the tools they needed to do their jobs effectively. The back-to-back blizzards that hit the Washington, D.C., area in February 2010 provided an unexpected test of the new system. Thanks to Colangelo's efforts, 60 percent of White House employees were able to complete mission-critical work from home while much of the city was shut down.

“He’s keenly aware of the critical need for 24/7 IT support for customers,” said Katy Kale, director of White House operations.
