Ryan led the development of an online loan application that allows people affected by a disaster to securely apply for loans.

The program, the Disaster Electronic Loan Application, streamlines disaster loan applications by collecting data accurately, efficiently and electronically. The process expands SBA’s ability to reach people affected by disasters, makes the application process simpler and speeds the delivery of assistance.

“SBA is proud of James Ryan’s leadership and outstanding contributions to the successful development of the disaster assistance electronic loan application,” said Herbert Mitchell, SBA’s associate administrator for disaster assistance. “Since implementation in early August 2008, over 62,000 individuals and businesses have registered on the site and over 42,000 applications have been submitted representing over 29 percent of all applicants seeking disaster assistance during that time period.”
