Unisys Corporation was selected to help consolidate multiple toolsets and service desks into a single entity.

The Air Force awarded Unisys Corporation a $76 million contract to provide a package of digital workplace services and enable military forces across eight locations to collaborate in a single shared workspace.

"This project will help the Air Force achieve its objectives of reducing cost, simplifying management and improving the end-user experience," Andrew Boyd, Unisys Federal’s group vice president for defense and intelligence agencies, said Tuesday in a statement around the new partnership.

During military crises, it can be difficult for various teams to effectively communicate and process thousands of real-time data points from multiple sources and across many applications. Through the collaboration, Unisys will manage and monitor the Air Force’s end-user desktop, laptop and mobile devices and fulfill the Air Force’s objective of consolidating multiple service desks with varied toolsets into a single entity with complete oversight of services.

The company also plans to automate device security, roll out a self-service portal and call management solution and stand up a cloud-based ITSM solution and end-user device management solution.

Unisys signed the Enterprise Information Technology as a Service, or EITaaS, agreement during the first business quarter of this fiscal year. The initial award will cover a one-year base period, which will be followed by two one-year option periods.

The services will be implemented across eight Air Force locations including bases in Germany, Florida, Alaska, and Colorado.

This week, Unisys was also named as a subcontractor on a $2 billion IT services contract awarded by the Energy Department.
