VA Rolls Out Telebenefits Pilot Project

The Veterans Affairs Department kicked off a project Tuesday to use the telehealth gear installed in clinics in rural Colorado to connect veterans with benefits counselors in its Denver regional office.

The Craig Daily Press reported the telebenefit project uses the high-definition telehealth system to provide veterans with face-to-face contact with counselors.

Brianna Brown, an Air Force veteran, was the first person to use the system in a session with three benefits counselors in Denver. She told the Craig Daily Press, "I think it's a lot more personal than over the phone, or through e-mail, or trying to do the research yourself."

I live in rural New Mexico, where driving to Albuquerque through Glorieta pass in the winter is a death defying adventure. I'd like to see the telebenefits projects rolled out here.
