Wyoming Gov.'s Budget Focuses on the New Economy

Technology plays a key role in the Wyoming Gov. Jim Geringer's 20012002 budget proposals, both as a key factor of the state's economy and as a tool for improving government services.

"The goals of my budget include improving jobs and income in the core businesses and those in the new economy for all of our state's citizenry," Geringer said in a statement last week.

Improving technology is another one of Geringer's main initiatives and one that he said is directly related to succeeding in the new economy. "[Technology] will improve jobs and income in our state's core businesses and in the new economy, and technology will allow government to deliver high-quality services at a fraction of the cost."

"Wyoming is not going to be road kill along the information superhighway," Geringer said.
