Online shopping is one of the most convenient ways to get everything you need, but often that convenience comes at a security cost. Shoppers can do several things to protect their financial information, including adding two-factor authentication to their bank login (as well as every login). 

Shopping with a virtual credit card is an easy way to protect your real number. Customers can create a temporary faux card that has an expiration date and security code associated with their actual cards.

A few banks offer this feature including Citi and Bank of America. If your bank doesn't have this service, try Privacy.com. The site has a browser extension that will make a virtual card number for you, on demand, though the service is currently in beta.
