Company to help LA move digital files

Los Angeles has tapped YouSendIt's content delivery service for moving large digital files. YouSendIt's service is available to all Los Angeles city departments, according to a company spokeswoman. The city uses the service primarily to send contracts with large engineering diagrams and to deliver software updates to city end users, the spokeswoman said. The YouSendIt service saves time and money by eliminating the use of overnight couriers to dispatch large files, according to the company. The spokeswoman said Los Angeles can't currently quantify cost savings from the use of YouSendIt, noting that the rollout of the service is just beginning. YouSendIt offers customers free and fee-based service options. The free service allows customers to send files of up to 100M. In Los Angeles' case, the city uses YouSendIt's Business Plus fee-based service, which permits files of up to 2G. YouSendIt plans to pursue additional government entities, according to the spokeswoman.
