DISA seeks data services ideas

Officials at the Defense Information Systems Agency want information technology companies to submit ideas on data services architecture and software.

DISA officials may introduce new, sophisticated data services into the Global Information Grid Services Core Enterprise Services Architecture. Earlier this month, they asked vendors to explain how several products fit into the grid, the military's intranet of voice, video and data systems, according to a May 12 agency request for information notice.

The products include software for:

• Collaboration.
• Content management.
• Discovery.
• Enterprise services management.
• Mediation.
• Messaging.
• Publication.
• Security.
• Storage.
• Subscription.
• User assistance.

Vendor responses are due June 18. After reviewing them, DISA officials may ask companies to enter into product loan agreements for trial and testing, according to the statement.

The Defense Department's broader Net-Centric Enterprise Services program aims to combine new data and network management concepts to make tactical and intelligence data more accessible to war-fighters.
