Accela to create Minneapolis building portal
It will let people go online to apply for construction permits, schedule inspections, check project status and pay fees.
A new Web portal solution will allow citizens of Minneapolis to access the city's building and housing services online 24 hours a day.
The city centralized its land and permit management over the past few years on Accela Inc.'s Kiva Development Management System (DMS), bringing together the services and transactions from the Building and Housing Department. The addition of Accela's KivaCitizen portal means that citizens and businesses will soon be able to access multiple services online, including applying for permits, scheduling inspections, checking project status and paying fees.
Minneapolis is Minnesota's largest city, with more than 380,000 residents, and being able to provide common transactions online is a significant step toward improving the city's services to its citizens, Merwyn Larson, director of inspections for the city, said in a statement.
