Questions for SPAWAR on the Dakota Meyer Blackball

The more I ponder the strange case of Marine Medal of Honor winner Dakota Meyer and his inability to land a job with a small Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command contactor because a BAE Systems contractor allegedly told a SPAWAR program manager that Meyer was mentally unstable and had a drinking problem, the more gobsmacked I become.

I wonder what kind of vetting process SPAWAR has in place for employees hired by contractors? SPAWAR probably has thousands of contracts, and does it put its finger into every individual hire on every one of those contracts?

Does SPAWAR approve all those thousands of hires by contractors based on only one reference?

Since Meyer is one of the only three living Medal of Honor recipients from the current wars, maybe, just maybe, SPAWAR could have sought out a second or even third reference?

I bet President Obama might have provided one.
