CNO Smartphone Study

I'm picking up strong signals that Adm. Gary Roughead has kicked off a quiet, high level study on the use of smartphones for naval communications, putting the Navy more than a wee bit behind the Army, which has already deployed the gizmos to a combat zone.

I'm told that Capt. Annie Andrews, nominated for promotion to rear admiral last month and a CNO fellow at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., is leading the smartphone study.

Alas, even though I'm a nice guy and a former naval person (of the Marine variety), Andrews does not want to talk to me.
