The National Security Personnel System Transition Office announced a few days ago that about 7,000 employees have moved out of the National Security Personnel System and into the General Schedule.
NSPSTO Director John H. James, Jr., said most NSPS employees, about 75 percent, will be transitioned into the GS by Sept. 30, more than a year ahead of the deadline set out in the Fiscal Year 2010 National Defense Authorization Act.
Remaining employees will move out of the system in FY 2011, James said, mostly to other personnel systems such as the Acquisition Demonstration Project, Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratories, and organizations going through Base Realignment and Closure. Dentists, physicians and other medical employees also will transition in FY 2011, James said.
