U.S. Dept. of Energy builds attack defense network
NetworkWorld
The U.S. Department of Energy is starting to deploy what it describes as a network neighborhood crime watch that pools attack data from intrusion detection systems at disparate DoE sites to facilitate faster response times. The agency's Federated Model for Cyber Security, developed at DoE's Argonne National Laboratories, uses IDS information to flag something such as an attack, or port scanning, it deposits XML files containing data about the scan in a central repository where other sites can access it.
