Senators push VA to automate claims processing

Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, ranking Republican on the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, said a paperless claims system will mean fewer mistakes and inconsistencies in disability benefits and fewer delays, and it will "help judge the effectiveness of employees." Burr said his own experience in running a paperless office shows he can now monitor things like how much mail has been received and how fast it is answered, which lets him evaluate his own staff.
