Homeland Security beefs up security on Mexican border

The Homeland Security Department will send hundreds of new employees to the Mexican border and invest billions of dollars in technology to screen traffic at border crossings, Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Tuesday. The moves respond to growing violence in Mexico, fueled by a war among drug cartels and law enforcement organizations that killed nearly 6,000 people last year.
