Virginia Gov. Gilmore's IT Commission Announces Next Meeting

Virginia Gov. James Gilmore's (R) Commission on Information Technology (CIT) will meet Sept. 1 at George Mason University to discuss the state's need for more IT workers.

The commission's members include representatives from the public and private sector, including Stephen Case, chairman and CEO of America Online Inc., and is chaired by Donald Upson, Virginia's secretary of technology. The CIT will make recommendations and propose policy options addressing Virginia's technology work force shortage and the state's need to attract more IT workers to support its business growth.

The meeting, which can be viewed live in the Web at www.sotech.state.va.us, will generate the third of the commission's four reports on topics critical to Virginia's technology future. Its first report produced six pieces of legislation and eventually was signed into law by Gilmore in March as the Internet Policy Act.
