Maine's Spreading Educator-to-Educator Developments (SEED) program hascreated a professional development opportunity for teachers — a networkof peers sharing what works in their classrooms. SEED identifies and rewards K-12 educators who have developed ways touse technology to achieve Learning Results, statewide goals for enhancingeducation. SEED then shares those classroom-tested approaches with othereducators across the state and supports their adaptation with small grants.The program is based on the premise that teachers learn best from otherteachers through activities grounded in their work with students. SEED keeps innovative, effective educators in Maine schools by celebratingand rewarding their innovations and by encouraging them to share what theyhave learned with others. This cost-effective, grass-roots approach promisesto change the way teachers teach by supporting them as learners. | |
