Georgia Tech Student Hacks Rival UGA’s Website

A Georgia Tech student allegedly breached the University of Georgia’s computer network to pencil in a win for his home team on UGA’s online calendar.  And the positive, albeit illegal, vibes worked.

Ryan Gregory Pickren, 21, apparently hacked the calendar on Nov. 27, two days before the annual intrastate football game between the UGA Bulldogs and GT Yellow Jackets.

The defacement, which was added below the legitimate entry for the match, read: “Sat., November 29, 2014/ 12:00 pm/ Get Ass Kicked by GT.”

The calendar graffiti was discovered and fixed about an hour after it appeared on Thanksgiving Day.

According to LinkedIn, Pickren is majoring in computer engineering with a minor in computer science.

“Two days after Pickren allegedly made the online UGA calendar entry, the Yellow Jackets broke a five-game losing streak to Georgia and won for just the second time in the last 14 tries in the rivalry with a 30-24 overtime upset at Sanford Stadium,” on the University of Georgia campus, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
