SocialBlade.com redirected users to sketchy download

The YouTube analytics website was rerouting visitors to malicious programs that could infect computers running certain software applications.

Hackers likely preyed on the site to up the odds of penetrating machines. SocialBlade.com had around 3.6 million visits last month.

The attackers inserted malicious code into a core JavaScript file.

The download only “fires if the user is running Internet Explorer or Firefox,” Malwarebytes reports. “This most likely leads to ad-fraud related malware (clickjacking etc.).”
