There's a big need in the Air Force for cybersecurity professionals. So much in fact, the U.S. military branch has been authorized to use a faster hiring process to help fill more than 680 positions.

The hiring process is referred to as Schedule A hiring authority, and the Defense Department only bestows it when there is a critical need. Schedule A will allow civilian jobseekers to be considered for these positions without using the traditional competitive procedures, according to a release from the Air Force Center Public Affairs Office.

Of course, the Air Force is not the only military branch in need. I was recently looking through USAJOBS.gov, a website full of interesting careers inside the U.S. government, and found plenty of good cyber jobs. In fact, various agencies are currently looking for IT specialists with a starting pay of $71,674. I counted 36 of these job postings for IT specialists alone. Other positions information technology specialists, director of network security deployment, deputy chief of computer, crime and intellectual property and deputy chief information officer, to name a few.
