HHS Taps New Chief Technology Officer

Sivak worked for the state of Maryland previously.

The next chief technology officer for the Health and Human Services Department will be Bryan Sivak, the state of Maryland’s chief innovation officer.
 
Sivak served as the state’s innovation chief for just over a year. Before that, he had been CTO for the District of Columbia, according to his LinkedIn profile. Sivak founded the computer software company InQuira Inc. in 1998.
 
“Working in partnership with Chief Technology Officer of the United States Todd Park, Bryan will ensure that the department’s innovation initiatives continue to move ahead at full speed," HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a statement, according to Government Health IT. "We will benefit tremendously from his creativity, experience and fresh ideas as we continue our work to harness the power of data and technology to improve the health of the nation.”
 
The HHS Twitter feed announced the appointment on Thursday, according to news reports.
