Best Places to Work in Federal IT

NASA continues to be the best large agency for federal IT specialists.

The latest "Best Places to Work in the Federal Government" analysis from the Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte, released today, might be a good place to look.

The report is based off data from the Office of Personnel Management’s annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey. It compares agencies overall by size—large, midsize and small—and breaks out its agency rankings in five mission-critical occupations across government, including IT.

NASA, which was rated the best place to work in government for a fifth straight year among large agencies, also tops the best place to work for IT specialists, with a score of 72.4 (out of 100). NASA was followed by the Social Security Administration, and Labor, Interior and Justice departments.

Among midsized agencies, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission beat out the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by one-tenth of a percentage point, 76.4 to 76.3. Rounding out the top five were the National Science Foundation, General Services Administration and the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency.

The top-scoring small agencies among IT specialists were the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Railroad Retirement Board and the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board.
