NASA releases SEWP V draft proposal
IT contract covers billions in task orders across government; agency seeking input on the fifth iteration.
NASA on March 4 released a draft request for proposal for the fifth iteration of its Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement, or SEWP, IT contract. (Read the cover letter).
SEWP is a 10-year, indefinite-delivery-indefinite-quantity contract with delivery orders for IT and audio-visual products and services. The contract is open to any government agency.
Among several changes, officials are reducing the number of competition groups from 13 in SEWP IV to five in SEWP V. They expect this change to reduce the cost to both industry and the government. SEWP V has a set-aside for small firms located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones. And NASA plans to fully track orders as well. Officials want to provide agencies with detailed information of their buying patterns primarily to assist with strategic sourcing.
NASA is also holding an "industry day" on March 11 to allow contractors to ask questions about the procurement vehicle. Washington Technology reported that more than $9.4 billion in task orders have been awarded under SEWP IV.
