Three join executive service ranks at DOD

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta appoints new leaders within the CIO's office.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has assigned three new officials to posts within the Defense Department’s Office of the CIO. All three will be based at the Pentagon.

Frederick Moorefield Jr., was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and assigned as the office’s director of spectrum, policy and programs. Moorefield previously served as technical director/director of strategic plans in the Air Force Spectrum Management Office, based in Ft. Meade, Md.

Mark Morrison was also appointed to the Senior Executive Service, and will serve in the CIO office’s office as principal director for the deputy chief information officer for cybersecurity. Morrison previously was assigned as defense intelligence officer for cyber issues at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington.

And Brian Burns was named as principal director for the deputy chief information officer for information enterprise in the CIO office.  Burns previously served as deputy director for warfighter systems integration in the Air Force Secretary’s Office of Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer, where he was based at the Pentagon.
