Letter: Lifting IBM’s suspension was the right move

One reader has worked with or competed against IBM for 30-plus years, and he believes the company is rigorous about following the rules.

Regarding “IBM is back, but what happened?”: We don't know what happened, but the good thing is that whatever was wrong was found out. After 30-plus years of working with IBM, often in competition, I think IBM is, as a company, very rigorous about following all the rules and regulations. But humans are humans, and sometimes personal benefits and views take over.

Even competing with IBM, I find hard it to believe any wrongdoing by the company. I’ve never seen that even when we won some very large contracts. Of course, some managers took it personally, but never the company. They are responsible for any person working at the company, but a total exclusion seems a little harsh before the facts are found. So lifting the suspension seems right.
