Letter: Private sector should protect public infrastructure
A reader says industry should have to follow the government’s security guidelines for the three-quarters of the public infrastructure that it controls.
Regarding “Cyber Storm II gets started”: The federal government needs to legislate that safeguarding the three-quarters of our infrastructure that the private sector controls is a matter of national security. As such, those systems must be certified and accredited in accordance with established federal policy and guidelines.
Also, there was no mention of preventive measures (which C&A addresses) to mitigate the risk of attacks to our critical systems rather than a "what do we do now?" mind-set.
