Lockheed gets Sentinel contract
The contractor beat Northrop Grumman for a contract to build a new case management system, according to a published report.
The FBI has awarded Lockheed Martin the contract to build Sentinel, the bureau’s new comprehensive case management system, according to a published report.
Lockheed beat Northrop Grumman, the other competitor for the project, after a six-month review process, according to a report Friday published on the Wall Street Journal's Web site.
The FBI, in a written statement, said the agency had completed vendor evaluations and that the agency is currently in negotiations with one of the vendors and has notified the other that "their proposal was not within the competitive range."
The FBI said it cannot disclose the idenity of either vendor at this point, but that the agency hopes to be able to have the contract awarded within the next 30 days.
Sentinel will replace the failed $170 million Virtual Case File system. VCF was to be part of the FBI's Trilogy program for modernizing the bureau’s information systems but was abandoned after repeated cost and schedule overruns.
