Women honored for tech leadership
Deborah Loudon, deputy CIO at the National Reconnaissance Office, earns government award
Women in Technology (WIT) on May 15 presented its government leadership award to Deborah Loudon, deputy chief information officer at the National Reconnaissance Office.
WIT, a Washington, D.C.-area trade group, recognized Loudon for her work in the information resource management arena, including working as the contracting officer on large-scale acquisitions and program manager for the Defense Department's purchase card.
One of the few women in the intelligence field, Loudon "has been a role model for women," said WJLA-TV's Maureen Bunyan, the program's emcee.
WIT also named Rear Adm. Vivien Crea, commander of the 1st Coast Guard District, as the winner of its lifetime achievement award. She previously served as director of information and technology of the Coast Guard and its CIO.
Other winners at the fourth annual event:
* Entrepreneur award: Kimberly McCabe, president and chief executive officer of Advanced Performance Consulting Group Inc.
* Champion award: Marguerete Luter, a vice president at Unisys Corp.
* Corporate award: Vonya McCann, vice president, federal external affairs for Sprint.
* Founder's award: Mary Dale, client relationship executive for Unisys.
* President's award: Amy Lemon, comptroller, financial planning and analysis for Vastera Inc. and Sally Turner, director of business development at American Management Systems Inc.
