Sniper takes life of FBI analyst
Linda Franklin was a career federal employee who became the ninth person killed by the sniper in the Washington, D.C., area
Linda Franklin, 47, was a career federal employee, serving in the Air Force in both military and civilian positions before moving to the FBI. On Oct. 14, she became the ninth person killed by the sniper in the Washington, D.C., area.
Franklin joined the FBI three-and-a-half years ago. She worked at the National Infrastructure Protection Center and helped form the InfraGard program, an initiative to foster information sharing between the private sector and the government about cyber and physical infrastructure vulnerabilities and attacks, according to media reports.
More recently, she was an intelligence operations specialist in the FBI's Cyber Division, created earlier this year to lead investigations into high-tech and computer-based crimes.
"Linda was a dedicated employee, and she will be missed," FBI Director Robert Mueller said in a statement. "The employees who worked with Linda — and all of us — are deeply shocked and angry over this tragedy."
