Different view on IT worker shortage
I read the article "Air Force woos workers" in the March 18 Federal Computer Week. I have been an information technology worker in the government for 15 years and have been trying to get hired at an Air Force Materiel Command base at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida for eight years.
I am a registered professional engineer certified in Oracle, and I have received "superior" performance appraisals nine out of the last 11 years. If there is an IT worker shortage, why haven't I received more than three job interviews in that time span? The view is entirely different from within the system!
