General Services Administration chief information officer Bill Piatt today

announced he will be leaving the agency to become the director of e-government

strategy at Booz-Allen &Hamilton Inc.

At Booz-Allen, Piatt will lead

the company's team that helps government clients move their services and

processes to the Internet and become "e-government" agencies.

His last day with GSA will be at the end of September.

Piatt has been at GSA since February 1999, first serving as CIO of the

agency's Public Building Service and then taking over as the agency CIO

in June when Shereen Remez became the agency's first chief knowledge officer.

While at GSA he oversaw the agency's Year 2000 transition and helped move

the GSA infrastructure to the Seat Management centralized information technology

management contract.

Piatt has also served as co-chairman of the federal CIO Council's Enterprise

Interoperability &Emerging IT Committee. In this role he has been one

of the leaders for the development of the FirstGov Web portal, a site intended

to provide citizens with a single point of contact for all government functions

and services.
