Eagle Awards honor two

Bruce McConnell, former director of the International Y2K Cooperation Center,

and Jerry Edgerton, senior vice president for MCI WorldCom (now WorldCom

Inc.), won Eagle Awards last week for outstanding accomplishments in the

world of federal information technology.

McConnell, who now runs the consulting firm McConnell International

LLC, won the top government award for leading the United States' international

effort to fix computers for the Year 2000 problem. Edgerton was honored

for the company's influence on federal telecommunications and the successful

pursuit of the FTS 2001 telecom contract.

The two Eagle Award winners were chosen from FCW's Federal 100 winners list.

The CIO Council selected the government Eagle Award winner, and the Industry

Advisory Council chose the Eagle Award winner for industry. This year's

Federal 100 winners were honored at a banquet last week at the National

Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
