President Clinton last week announced his intent to nominate Lisa Ross as

assistant secretary of the Treasury Department for management and chief

financial officer (CFO). Ross has served as acting assistant secretary for

strategy and finance and CFO since December. As assistant secretary, Ross

would provide policy direction and oversight of departmentwide issues including

personnel and procurement policy, and information and telecommunications

systems.

Gregory Dahlberg was sworn in May 23 as the undersecretary of the Army,

replacing Bernard Rostker, who is now the under secretary of Defense for

Personnel and Readiness. The Senate confirmed Dahlberg and Rostker's nominations

earlier this month. In his new position, Dahlberg will be the principal

staff advisor and deputy to the secretary of the Army.

Jay Johnson was last week confirmed by the Senate to be director of the

U.S. Mint, replacing Philip Diehl. John Mitchell had been serving as acting

director of the Mint.

Janice Menker recently joined Grant Thornton LLP as a manager in the company's

Global Government Group. She will work with public sector clients as part

of the Global Government Group's Performance Management Practice. This group

provides management consulting services relative to privatization, managed

competition, outsourcing and Office of Management and Budget Circular A-76.
