Letter: Encryption, digital signatures and bandwidth

Government agencies should not underestimate the bandwidth requirements of good security, a reader writes in response to an article on digital signatures.

Ms Spencer should address the bandwidth impact of employing both encryption and digital signatures. It would effectively triple or even quadruple the bandwidth requirements. If everyone did this it would increase latency significantly, to the point of a self denial of service.
