ONC Certifies New Health IT Products

Most notable change allows eligible professionals using a combination of EHR technology certified for both ambulatory and inpatient settings to generate a “hybrid” EHR certification ID.

An update to the Certified Health IT Product List will be released Tuesday morning, giving electronic health record users information about the latest products certified by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.

ONC says in an emailed statement that the most notable change allows eligible professionals using a combination of EHR technology certified for both ambulatory and inpatient settings to generate a “hybrid” EHR certification ID. Each certified EHR and EHR module has been tested and certified under ONC’s Temporary Certification Program.

Health care providers seeking Medicare or Medicaid incentives for meaningfully using EHRs must use products certified by a testing and certification group authorized by ONC.

More information on hybrid certification is available through ONC.
