*** President-Elect Joe Biden will select Boston Mayor Marty Walsh to serve as Secretary of Labor. Walsh, a former union official, takes control of an agency with broad authority over federal contractors.

*** President Donald Trump withdrew the nomination of acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf on Jan. 7, just hours after Wolf released a statement calling on the president to condemn the storming of the Capitol Building by his supporters on Wednesday. The Senate is in recess and will not take up Wolf's nomination before Trump's term expires but the move was seen as a rebuke, considering that the president had renominated multiple individuals for Senate-confirmed positions whose nominations had expired at the close of the last Congress.
