*** The Army is planning a major test of whether it can outsource its network infrastructure to commercial providers. According to a draft of the Army's Enterprise Information Technology as a Service solicitation, the plan is to stand up four prototypes of varying size and scale for periods of up to three years. The idea is that the owned-and-operated model "sub-optimizes Army operational readiness," and that a new approach for IT network service could improve delivery of cloud, end-user devices and data transport.

***The Defense Department’s cybersecurity standards have a new home: Cyber.mil. The Defense Information Systems Agency migrated the security requirements and technology implementation guides in early May. The agency also launched the DOD Cyber Exchange portal where subject matter experts with common access card access can view upwards of 350 security guides, security content automation protocols and technical tools.

*** The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Navy Department are concerned that planned spectrum repurposing for 5G networks could have a negative impact on weather forecasts, according to a report in the Washington Post.
