ITAPS signs up AT&T
The IT Alliance for Public Sector has signed AT&T as a participant in the public-sector division of the Information Technology Industry Council.
With the announcement, ITAPS said, its membership grew to 22 participants. In April, ITAPS announced its inaugural group of 14 participating companies.
"We're delighted to welcome AT&T, one of the leading technology solutions providers to the U.S. federal government," said Trey Hodgkins, ITAPS' senior vice president for the public sector, in a Sept. 24 statement.
"We look forward to working with ITAPS in ways that support our shared mission of serving government agencies now and for the future," said AT&T Government Solutions President Kay Kapoor.
Navy drone takes first cross-country flight
The Navy's MQ-4C Triton successfully conducted its first cross-country flight last week as the program moves from initial flight testing to operational testing, Defense Systems reported.
The unmanned aircraft system's ferry flight began from a Northrop Grumman facility in Palmdale, Calif., and ended when it landed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. The flight plan for the 11-hour, 3,290-mile trip plotted a route along the southern U.S. border, the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.
