Following the Epic Systems Money

I reported yesterday that five members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation asked the Veterans Affairs and Defense departments to consider using a single commercial system for their new electronic health records, a move that could benefit one of the state's largest employers, software company Epic Systems Corp.

In that article an Epic spokeswoman said that the company does not use lobbyists, a fact I had already checked out in the lobbying reports.

But readers pointed out Epic and its CEO, Judith Faulkner, are quite generous with their campaign contributions.

Faulkner, according to Influence Explorer, has made $349,156 in campaign contributions to a variety of Congress folks and various PACs from 1997 through 2010. Epic has forked over $761,932 in campaign contributions from 1995 through 2010.

I'll let you connect the dots.
