Reader comment roundup: Hide your IT project?; Performance pay affects lives

Find out what the buzz is among our readers. Check out this week's roundup of readers' comments.

Regarding "IBM: Collaboration will expand CIOs' roles": One area where on-line collaboration pays productivity dividends is in the preparation and submission of federal grant applications. In response to this need, Cayuse launched Subawards.com, a free Web application that allows anyone to complete the SF424 RR Subaward budget form online, and send that data to their collaborators.

Since most large federal grant proposals contain at least one subaward proposal, this Web-based approach paves the way to fast, accurate data sharing. The federal granting agencies could look to this model for a private sector success story.

Regarding "Agencies to launch alternative-pay project": Perception and reality are two different things. There should be no surprises or secrets about changing to a system that will impact employees' livelihood.

Regarding "New administration? Hide your IT projects": How sad if Kost's remarks are accurately reported -- I pray they are not. He in effect suggests employees lie to their bosses.
Does Kost give the same type of guidance to his kids?
