FCW tested each solution using a fictitious project, where 10 users ranging

in authority would implement a new order entry system. In addition to looking

specifically at scheduling and tracking tools, we evaluated each solution's

reporting capabilities.

And, because installation and configuration were important to this comparison,

we evaluated each solution on its ability to work from and integrate with

a variety of platforms. We also compared the amount of effort involved,

paying specific attention to any steps that would require assistance from

people outside the project team.

Each of the solutions ran on a Gateway Inc. Pentium III machine with

320M of memory running Microsoft Corp.'s Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.

Client browsers included Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Netscape Communications

Corp.'s Navigator 4.7 running on a Windows 95 machine.
