Credit Where Credit is Due

I am writing this note in response to your recognition of Dr. Ernst

Volgenau as one of the Federal 100 in the June 12 issue of FCW. My issue

is not with your selection of Dr. Volgenau — far from it. I have the utmost

respect for Dr. Volgenau and what he has done with SRA. My issue is with

the blurb that accompanied Dr. Volgenau's picture.

The blurb in question reads: "For leading a firm that is the only federally

oriented IT company that made Fortune magazine's list of the best companies

to work for in America." I work for Scitor Corp., a midsize firm of about

700 people, most of whom support the federal government, either as prime

contractors or as subcontractors to the larger IT firms, such as Lockheed-Martin

Corp. and Boeing Co. For the past two years, Scitor has been on Fortune's

list of best companies to work for. In 1998, we were ranked No. 5, and in

1999, we were ranked No. 12.

While Dr. Volgenau and SRA are indeed worthy of the selection, I just

wanted to point out that they are one of two federally oriented IT companies

that made Fortune magazine's list of the best companies to work for in America.
