North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer recently asked a private-sector advisory committee to recommend tax, investment and public policy ideas to encourage high-tech investment in the state.

The North Dakota Information Technology Council Entrepreneur Committee, a private sector-group working to advance the state's IT industry, will develop the recommendations. Schafer said the group's suggestions will be a priority in his next executive budget.

"The Internet is the railroad of the future for North Dakota," Schafer said. "We must ensure that this new railroad has tracks all over our state."
