DISA Plans Mobile Management RFP in October

The contract will launch a vendor feeding frenzy.

The Defense Information Systems Agency said Wednesday that it plans to release a request for proposals for a mobile device management system and a mobile applications store to serve the entire Defense Department on or about Tuesday Oct. 2.

The Defense mobile strategy released by Chief Information Officer Teresa Takai on June 15 called for an enterprisewide management system and app store, though by October the Air Force Special Operations Command will have already let its own contract for the mobile management software for electronic flight bags through a procurement issued Aug 23.

The DISA RFP, I am sure, will kick off a vendor feeding frenzy.
